The vinaigrette is finely engine turned to the hinged top and the undersaide, the lid is monogramed engraved with "J. A. to E. C." The outline of the vinaigrette is shaped and engraved, the gilt interior having a hinged engraved & pierced cover. The case is hallmarked both on the inside of the lid and the base, with the anchor mark for Birmingham and the date letter
